Job Description:

A community medical center in Ocean County, NJ is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologists to provide inpatient locum coverage. About the opportunity:

• Schedule: 7-day block - Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (in-house)
• On-Call: Every night during the 7-day coverage block
• Weekend Call: 24-hour call on Saturdays & Sundays, ending Monday at 7:00 AM
• Patient Load: Approximately 15 patients per day
• Start Date: June 30, 2025Responsibilities:
  • Provide inpatient gastroenterology consults and follow-ups for a 7-day block.
  • Perform investigative endoscopic procedures, including:
    • Colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, upper endoscopies, gastroscopies
    • Duodenoscopes, barium swallows
    • ERCP procedures
    • Collaborate with private GI providers and support staff to ensure quality patient care.
    • Provide on-call gastroenterology coverage for the Emergency Department, following hospital policies.
    • Participate in 24-hour call shifts (including approx. 2 hours of rounding with the remainder unrestricted).
    • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical teams to deliver high-quality care.Qualifications:
      • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
      • Active NJ Medical License (or ability to obtain)
      • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
      • Strong communication and collaboration skills
